INTRODUCTION

Land Utilization: Floods are among the world’s most devastating natural disasters, causing illness and disease that also kill more people and increase poverty and property damage than any other natural phenomenon.

In Nigeria, although not leading in terms of claiming lives, flooding affects and displaces more people than any other disaster; it also causes more damage to properties. At least 20% of the population is threatened by one form of flood or another. In Nigeria, floods have been dangerous for people, communities and institutions. Recently, Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto and other parts of the country have been affected by the floods that have driven out locals and as many places. He broke both the built environment and the undeveloped plan. It has claimed many lives and millions of properties have been lost due to its occurrence. One of the main features of this situation is that floods do not discriminate, but marginalize anyone who refuses to prepare for their onset. Land Utilization

While flooding is a situation that occurs when the usually dry land is covered with water from an overflowing river or heavy rains, floods occur naturally in flood plains that are prone to disaster. It occurs when the water in the river overflows from its banks, or sometimes results from a built dam. This happens without warning but with a surprise package that always delivers to the unprepared community like those of Sokoto, Kaduna, Kebbi, Ogun, Lagos, to name a few. Flooding in the border communities of Ogun and Lagos states also threatens to expose people to imminent cholera, diarrhea, malaria, skin infections and other waterborne diseases. Land Utilization
